Tailored to you – men's jeans in various fits
Do you wear jeans every day and favour them for every occasion? There are so many choices. Finding your ideal cut in the first place will make shopping for jeans so much easier.
Slim fit – enhancing your figure
Body-hugging rather than skin-tight: slim fit jeans follow your silhouette without drawing too much attention to it and the hem lies loosely on your shoes. In contrast to skinny jeans, the proportion of stretch in these men's jeans is significantly less or none at all. Slim jeans suit slighter men with athletic legs, while shorter legs will look longer.
How to style your slim fit jeans: for the office, a model with a dark colour or dark subtle wash worn with a shirt, jacket and leather shoes. After work, the choice of colour and wash is all yours. Wear them turned-up with a long sleeve top and your favourite trainers.
Men's skinny jeans – a close fit
This on-trend cut fits like a second skin. Thanks to the high stretch content, skinny jeans are very comfortable. Ideal for slim men because they show off your figure to its best advantage.
How to style your skinny fit jeans: while not appropriate at the office, skinny jeans are otherwise a fashionable all-rounder. Combine with a leather jacket, varsity jacket or oversize sweater. Shoes shouldn't be too chunky, choose narrow trainers or boots.
Tapered jeans – legroom for broader thighs
A popular cut between the slim and straight cuts for men with muscular legs and strong thighs: due to their lower crotch, tapered jeans sit loosely on the thighs and narrow towards the ankles. Smaller, stockier men should refrain from this cut, because it can make you look shorter
How to style your tapered fit jeans: casual chic with a shirt, adding a slim biker jacket and high-top trainers.
Straight cut – a figure-flattering casual classic
One for all: straight cut jeans run straight down from thigh to ankle and conceal strong thighs and calves. Straight leg jeans emphasize the figure without being too tight.
How to style your straight cut jeans: this cut is perfect for a casually cool street style – try turned-up blue denim jeans, a white long sleeve top and a blouson jacket.
Relaxed fit – keeping it simple
Jeans for leisure: this cut is even more comfortable. All in all, men's jeans in a relaxed fit look easy-going and impress with their comfort at the waistband and on the legs.
How to style your relaxed fit jeans: thoughts immediately go to your favourite hoodie with light jeans and of course trainers. Add a little chic with a light knitted sweater and desert boots.
Athletic or dynamic fit – follow every movement
The slightly more generous variant of the tapered fit: loose at the top and tapering downwards, but with more room at the seat and ankles. Dynamic fit jeans offer the comfort of sports trousers and allow you freedom of movement. The perfect choice for active men, regardless of their build.
How to style your athletic fit jeans: trainers are a must here. Add a sweatshirt or T-shirt and you're ready to go!
Effects and washes
What colour, what wash and what effect should you choose? If you feel a bit overwhelmed, we can help with a brief overview.
Wrinkle effect: the jeans are reworked with starch, creating a wrinkle effect.
Used wash: bleaching, pumice stones and sandblasting give the jeans a really worn look.
Washed out: the jeans look faded, as if they've already been washed several times.
Distressed look: goes beyond the used look. The jeans are torn or shredded and have holes.
Rinse wash: cold rinsed for a natural effect. The jeans lose little colour and remain somewhat dark.
Coloured denim: the yarn is dyed, making the jeans particularly colour-fast.
Should jeans be washed before they are worn for the first time?
Though recommended for hygienic reasons, there are jeans wearers who do not wash their jeans for as long as possible or hardly ever wash them at all. Don't wash your jeans too often and preferably air dry them thoroughly so that they stay in good condition for a long time.
More care tips
If your denim jeans really do need a wash, you should stick to the following tips:
- Turn inside-out to wash
- Use only a little liquid detergent – preferably one for delicates
- Don't use a fabric softener
- A wool wash is best at a maximum 30°C and on a low spin
- Never tumble dry, but rather lay out flat in dry air
